OK im not gonna lie about it, in 2008 MIllion Dollar Listing was what really made me start looking at the real estate industry. The more I looked and the more I talked to brokers I knew it was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. 3 1/2 years later im officially a rookie in this business. I watch real estate shows all the time and million dollar listing is one of my favorites but not from a business point of view. I enjoy those types of shows, and it amazes me what people will pay for a piece of property in CA. If you look at the agents websites some of the properties that are SOLD on the show are still listed for sale so you know alot of it is just made for tv.
Property Virgins, My First Sale, My First Place, and others like Selling New York and soon Selling LA on hgtv are far better shows because you actually see a few minutes of broker/client relations and everything does not always work out for the best in these show like the reality shows do.
A rookie like me is of coarse fascinated by everything in this business. All the work required to get a listing and then to sell that first one I know is just around the corner for me. In my spare time its nice to know i have hgtv to occupy my time and even see josh and madison fight on bravo tv....

can you pass the state exam ??
so you finished your 60 hour course and possibly the 30 hour cna course ( as required here in tennessee) and your ready for the big day, the state exam...here are a few little hints that can save your butt when you take the state exam and not FAIL the first time as I did....Everyone will say dont be afraid to fail because alot of people do, but who wants to fail ? My advice is simple :
1 - If a crash course is offered a day or so before the exam take it, its money well spent
2 - Review all your class notes and in class exams
3 - Dont overdo it, just relax and study in a quite place at your own pace
4 - The day of the exam eat well, as bad as your nerves may be, because you will need it for brain power
5 - SLOW DOWN...In Tennessee we have four hours for the exam. Use as much time as you need but dont overthink too much, usually your first guess is right.
6 - OK, youre at the computer, ready to go, here is two things you DO NOT want to do :
dont look at the timer, you have plenty of time
dont look at what question number you are on, this will cause you to rush
7 - the test will be over before you know it. This is why i failed the first time. I looked at the timer and question number and rushed so bad i did the exam in 45 minutes. When I passed two days later I took 90 minutes.
8 - ONE MORE TIP : THIS WORKED WELL FOR ME : you will be given scratch paper and a pencil from the facility. I marked on each question on the paper 1,2,3,4....Then read the question twice and eliminate the answers by scratching out the numbers you know are wrong, just like you did in class, its a simple process of elimination.
9 - READ THRU THE QUESTION, LOOK FOR KEY WORDS. The test will take a 10 word question and make it 30 words...Read thru it and break it down and if you studied well it will all come back to you.
10 - GOOD LUCK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
